Perth is being showcased to the lucrative global business events sector with Tourism Australia’s signature bi-annual showcase Dreamtime kicking off today in the Western Australia capital with 120 international business event planners and media experiencing its recent renaissance first-hand.

During the next two days, guests from Greater China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Japan, South Korea, the UK, USA and New Zealand will have the opportunity to meet and network with 87 of Australia’s business events industry, starting with the business session this morning at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Dreamtime provides key international incentive planners with the opportunity to experience Australia’s competitive strengths as a business events destination commented Penny Lion, Executive General Manager Events at Tourism Australia.

“We know Dreamtime delivers tangible results for Australian industry. The 2017 event, held in Brisbane, generated more than 201 business leads worth over AUD247 million, of which 73 have converted into business worth AUD50 million,” said Ms Lion.

Perth was selected to host Dreamtime 2019 thanks to a raft of new hotels, infrastructure, city precincts and increased air access including the non-stop direct flights from London and Tokyo. Gareth Martin, Chief Executive Officer at Perth Convention Bureau said Perth has been transformed in recent years with exciting new developments.

“It has never been a better time for Perth to host Dreamtime. We’re proud to showcase to international guests our capabilities to deliver incentive events, our strong business events offering, the natural beauty of Perth and its surrounds, and our people who live and breathe the Western Australia ‘can do’ attitude,” said Mr Martin.

After the two-day program in Perth, business event planners and media will spend the following three days undertaking an educational visit in other Australian destinations.
