Recent renovations at the impressive Pier One hotel have focussed on innovation, style, luxury, practicality and comfort. An open house invitation to Sydney’s hospitality, travel media and industry leaders to inspect newly appointed suites and dine had invitees confirm the boutique hotel was indeed one of Sydney most distinctive deluxe properties. Sydney’s most historic hotel showcased the completion of a five-year transformation journey; a $15 million-dollar design refurbishment of all rooms and suites.
Location, location, location always applies and Pier One Sydney Harbour is located nearly under the south western pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Walsh Bay adjacent to the historic Rocks. The property recently showcased seven of the spectacular over-water hotel suites with unrivalled views of spectacular landmarks including Luna Park, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House
Situated on-and-over Sydney Harbour, the hotel’s seven new suites have been designed by internationally renowned firm Bates Smart Architects and include four Harbour View Balcony Suites which have direct access to private, expansive balconies with sweeping Sydney Harbour views.
As well as the seven new suites, Pier One Sydney Harbour has completely renovating 22 new Waterside King and Heritage King Rooms which now takes the hotel’s total room count to 189. Also available are the Dog friendly rooms with direct access to the Pier.

General Manager for Pier One Sydney Harbour, Kim Mahaffy, said “We’re very excited to be offering such a premium, waterfront product to the local and international market and being so close to the bridge and Opera House, we expect these new suites to sell out well in advance come the festive season and New Year’s Eve.”
Pier One, a member of the global Autograph Collection of Hotels has been a feature of Sydney Harbour since 1912. The Pier was used by P&O Cruises as a passenger terminal and cargo until 1977, when works began on redeveloping the site for commercial use. From the late-70s to early-90s, The Pier continued to be a popular attraction and featured restaurants, amusement rides and retail outlets until it was restored and redeveloped into a state-of-the-art hotel.

Pier One Sydney Harbour opened in spring 1999, just in time to welcome in the new millennium. In 2012 it celebrated its 100th year anniversary.
Some guests arrived in style, by Seven Star super-yacht, commencing the evening with a harbour cruise whilst sipping on Perrier-Jouët and delectable canapés from Pier One’s hatted restaurant The Gantry. Master of ceremonies, General Manager Kim Mahaffy welcomed guests and invited them to explore the rejuvenated bridge-facing suites, relish the experiential activities within, and enjoy an iconic Sydney Harbour sunset on the suite balconies overlooking Sydney Harbour Bridge.
