MULTIPLE award-winning Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort chef, Navneet Reddy, has added a further title to his long list of achievements by recently taking out the title of Culinary Master Chef 2019 in the competition held in Denarau (Nadi) earlier this month.

Chef Reddy took out the top prize by producing a Duo Style Quail dish that was complemented with sweet potato puree, baby vegetables, pickled fennel salad and double cream smoked goat cheese with a blood orange sherry vinaigrette

He said “At Outrigger we strive to produce a higher quality of resort food than anticipated, we aim to take our international visitors on a journey of history, culture and agriculture through their food in a bid to exceed guests’ expectations.

This award follows his recent crowning as the 2019 Global Chef of the Year by the World Association of Chefs, after comprehensively defeating Australia, New Zealand and other pacific nations at the Pacific Rim Culinary Challenge held in Melbourne earlier this year.

Along with Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort pastry chef, Vikash Chetty, Chef Reddy will now represent Fiji at the Global Chefs Challenge Finals in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2020 – and by doing so will help place Fiji on the global culinary map.

“I want to encourage and inspire more young Fijians to become chefs, therefore helping to increase the local talent pool and assist the tourism industry resolve the current labour shortage in this skillset” said Chef Reddy.

Chef Reddy plays a pivotal role in assisting the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resorts ‘Schools Chefs Challenge’ in a desire to share his passion with future generations of the industry.
