Tandem skydiving operator Skydive Australia has today announced it has hit the milestone achievement of 21 years of operations at its flagship dropzone in Wollongong.

The company, which was formerly known as Skydive the Beach, began offering skydiving experiences in Wollongong in July 1998 with a small Cessna 206 aircraft, operating out of Shellharbour Airport.

To mark the occasion – CEO John O’Sullivan, Local MP for Wollongong, Paul Scully, and Founder Anthony Boucaut gathered at the flagship drop zone

Today, Skydive Australia operates out of 15 locations around Australia and three in New Zealand, making it the largest tandem skydive operator in Australia. Each year the company has over 130,000 passengers through its doors, with around 30,000 of those, jumping in Wollongong.

Skydive Australia CEO John O’Sullivan, who joined the company a few months ago, said he was thrilled to usher the popular skydiving operator into its next chapter and celebrate a new era of skydiving.

“Over 21 years, Skydive Australia has grown from a single venue, grass roots operator to become the biggest tandem skydiving operator in Australia. We look forward to continuing this legacy and giving more Australians the chance to experience the unforgettable feeling of skydiving over beautiful locations,” said Mr O’Sullivan.

Throughout the years of growth, the company hasn’t forgotten its humble roots and the vision of founder Anthony “Bowie” Boucaut that brought Skydive Australia to life.

Bowie’s dream was to give everyone the chance to experience skydiving and the opportunity to do it in an incredible location on the beach. Since 1998, that dream has been fulfilled hundreds of thousands of times at incredible locations across Australia and New Zealand.

Well-known names such as Mandy Moore, Lara Bingle, Pete Murray, Nathan Hindmarsh, Rachel Finch, Crooked Colours and Boo Seeka have all jumped with Skydive Australia over the years.

Skydive Australia will celebrate its birthday with a week of sharing memories on social media and a special discount of $40 off to give even more people the thrilling experience of jumping out of a plane.
