New-age carrier Vietjet has been honored for numerous awards and accolades as the airline expands its business internationally. In its latest achievement, President & CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao was honored as the “APAC CEO of The Year” at the 2019 Aviation 100 Awards held in Hong Kong on 5 November 2019.

One of the world’s most prestigious awards in the world of aviation, the Aviation 100 Awards held annually recognises the year’s most outstanding performers in the world’s aerospace industry based primarily on an independent and objective industry survey. The title APAC CEO of The Year awarded to Vietjet President & CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao recognise her success as the leader of Vietjet as well as the airline’s vast contribution to the growth of the aviation industry in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

As one of a few female leaders in the global aviation industry, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao has been honored with numerous achievements since the airline’s inaugural flight in 2011. In September 2019, she was named on Forbes Asia’s Power Businesswomen list. She was also ranked 44th on the list of ‘World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’ by Forbes in 2018, up 11 notches from the year before.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao has also been named in the 2018 Bloomberg 50 list that honors 50 icons and innovators who have changed the global business landscape over the past year. Besides, she was also named in the research case study of Harvard Business School.

On 2 November 2019, Vietjet was honored as the Best Enterprise in the aviation sector in ASEAN at the 2019 ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) Gala Night, held within the framework of the ASEAN Summit in Thailand.

The award recognises Vietjet’s contribution to the integration between ASEAN businesses and for its extensive connectivity across the region and beyond. It also highlights the carrier’s outstanding performance and presence in the region. In the past year, Vietjet’s CEO has also been honored as the leading female entrepreneur of ASEAN and leading female entrepreneur of Vietnam at the ASEAN Business Awards 2018.

Remarkably, Vietjet has been awarded with the highest ranking of a 7-star safety in 2018 and 2019 by the world’s only safety and product rating website AirlineRatings.com and listed as one of the world’s 50 best airlines for healthy financing and operations by Airfinance Journal in 2018 and 2019. The airline has also been named as Best Low-Cost Carrier by renowned organizations including Skytrax, CAPA, Airline Ratings, etc.

The ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) was launched by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) in 2007 to give recognition to enterprises and entrepreneurs that have contributed to the growth and prosperity of the ASEAN economy. The ABA also serves as a platform to spread information concerning ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), spurring integration in the region and globally. Aviation is one of 17 Priority Integration Sectors including Agri-Based, Finance, Automotive, Textiles, Tourism, etc.
