From 10th – 12th October, mountain bikers and biking fanatics flocked to North West Eswatini from around the country and neighbouring countries for the Inyatsi Swazi Frontier.

Inyatsi Swazi Frontier is held annually over 3 days. The route is carefully designed to showcase some of Eswatini’s most spectacular and scenic mountains and valleys. Overnight stops were at a variety of attractive and comfortable resorts, lodges and hotels where riders experienced a mix of accommodation including chalets, backpackers, cottages, dorms and luxury rooms.

The 14th edition of this three day mountain biking event saw bikers compete on the cascading steep hills of the Highveld. The bikers camped at Hawane Resort. The first race was a staggering 60 kilometre route starting from Hawane Resort to Bulembu Lodge with the second route, also 60 kilometres, beginning at Bulembu Lodge, and ending at Pigg’s Peak Hotel. The final route began at Pigg’s Peak all the way to Maguga Dam. As expected at this time of year, the weather was appealing, warm and sunny, perfect for a biking day.

The Highveld consists of steep, rocky climbs and downhill runs, with rivers to cross on the way. Competitors had plenty of services such as bike wash, mechanical services, Wi-Fi connection and medical assistance all at different places. The last night of the event was the night of glory, where the best among the bikers were given awards. There event was covered by the prominent media in the Southern Africa. The event sponsors included Inyatsi, Total Eswatini, Eswatini Tourism Authority and many more.
