Franklin County Visitors Bureau spotlights Chambersburg’s Council for the Arts’ “Miniature Art 2019” exhibition, opening Friday November 1st with a reception from 5-8 pm. 187 original works of art will be displayed: oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings; drawings; and hand-pulled prints and sculpture, many by nationally known artists. The exhibit can be viewed at the Council Gallery, 81 North Main Street in Chambersburg.

“We received 307 entries this year,” explained Exhibit Coordinator Anne Finucane, “from 99 artists in 18 states. We advertise nationally, and always receive entries from artists all over the country!”

Judge and juror for this year’s show was Lisa Sheirer. Sheirer earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and printmaking from West Virginia University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from the University of Notre Dame. She currently serves as a professor of art at Frederick Community College, Frederick, MD.

Sponsor of the Miniature Art 2019 Exhibition is Ludwig’s Jewelers, a downtown Chambersburg business for nearly 150 years.

Miniature Art 2019 will be on display at the Council through December 20, 2019, with gallery hours Tuesday-Friday 10 am-2 pm, and also by appointment.
