In collaboration with Scholars of Sustenance (S.O.S), W Bali – Seminyak teamed up with Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort, visiting Semara Putra Orphanage in Klungkung to celebrate World Food Day on 16th of October.Together they prepared donated food from both hotels and served dinner to 250 children.
At 4PM, the team from W Bali and S.O.S arrived at Semara Putra Orphanage and began food preparation. The first step was to unload the dozens of containers of food out of the truck, then to prepare the tables and stove to arrange and cook the food.
The children were able to interact with W Bali’s chef’s and see the cooking process, whilst also being able to enjoy a hot meal. Some of the children assisted the chef in plating the fruits and pastries and assisted in bringing them to the dinner table. The chefs had a moment out of the kitchen to go out and witness firsthand where the food they carefully packed each day was going.
W Bali has partnered with S.O.S to reduce the hotels food waste to landfill. Together, W Bali and S.O.S will help distribute unwanted food supplies to underprivileged children, whilst encouraging a cleaner and greener environment.
Founded by Bo Holmgreen, S.O.S collects leftover food from hotels around the island daily, mainly from breakfast and brunch buffets. The food is then reconditioned in their kitchen and shipped the same day to orphanages around the Island, feeding hundreds of children in need.
S.O.S is a non-profit Food Rescue Foundation and an international charity, focusing on global food distribution issues. Their objective is to bring awareness to the younger generation in a meaningful way for communities in need.
