Hilton today announced the signing of Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora, marking the second Hilton Garden Inn signing for Australasia this year. In partnership with Deal (LG) Pty Ltd, Hilton will manage the new build 168-room property.

Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora will be part of the existing Polaris 3083 development located in Bundoora Melbourne, approximately 19km north of Melbourne CBD. Polaris is the largest master planned development in the inner north of Melbourne, covering an expansive 26-acre site. It incorporates parklands, a modern dining and retail precinct and low-rise residential space, offering ease of access to the city with bus and tram links.

Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora will offer 168 spacious rooms, an all-day dining restaurant and bar, a fitness centre and 127sqm of event space. The pipeline indicates Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora will open by Q1 2021.

“We are thrilled to be working alongside Deal (LG) Pty Ltd to bring our award-winning mid-market Hilton Garden Inn brand to Melbourne,” said Heidi Kunkel, vice president, operations, Australasia, Hilton. “We are deeply committed to the Melbourne market and expanding Hilton’s presence beyond our existing DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne – Flinders Street. The signing of Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora, along with the newly signed Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street and Hilton Melbourne Square properties, further solidifies this commitment.”

David Kobritz, executive chairman, Dealcorp, said, “The vision is now a reality as we look forward to welcoming Hilton to Polaris 3083. A well-established and thriving residential, retail and commercial hub of Melbourne’s northern growth corridor, the new Hilton Garden Inn hotel will be a welcomed addition to Polaris 3083 and the broader community in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.”

Kobritz added, “As the hotel market booms in inner-Melbourne, the appetite for quality, affordable hotel style accommodation grows in surrounding suburbs, and we are glad to be able to bring such a prominent global brand in the hotel industry to Melbourne’s north. The hotel will serve the adjoining La Trobe University and the growing corporate and residential markets in the north.”

La Trobe University’s Vice President of Strategy, Natalie MacDonald welcomed the investment, saying it aligned to the University’s vison to create more local jobs, innovation and economic growth in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

“La Trobe University is building a new University City of the Future, partnering with industry to create more residential, health, retail, work and recreational opportunities in the region. We welcome this investment which is yet another great vote of confidence in the strength, potential and popularity of Melbourne’s northern suburbs,” she said.

Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora will join 27 operating and 12 pipeline Hilton properties throughout Australasia.
