AKARYN Hotel Group, Thailand’s homegrown five-star boutique hotel specialist, has celebrated the fourth anniversary of akyra Manor Chiang Mai, its intimate and exclusive all-suite hotel, with a major CSR initiative aimed at giving back to the community and putting smiles on the faces of local children.This exquisite hotel first opened its doors in September 2015, and the hotel’s team marked this milestone with a visit to Sangwan Wittaya School in Chiang Mai province, which it has adopted as its charitable partner in northern Thailand. The schoolchildren already know many of the akyra Manor Chiang Mai team following previous CSR exercises, and this anniversary event reunited the two groups for a fun-filled day.
akyra Manor Chiang Mai is now proud to be a single-use plastic-free hotel, having successfully eliminated all plastic bottles, bags, straws and other items from its entire property. Continuing this strong environmental theme, the hotel’s team members showed the kids how to separate their waste into recyclable and non- reusable materials, as well as teaching them how to make their own organic washing-up liquid.
After the education came the entertainment, and the students were invited back to the hotel to take part in an array of activities, including a pizza-making class and a birthday party, complete with balloons, presents and a special cake. Following a delicious lunch prepared by the hotel’s chefs, the schoolchildren changed into their swimming gear and headed to the hotel’s rooftop for a splash-tastic afternoon pool party!
This represents the fourth consecutive year of CSR pledges at akyra Manor Chiang Mai, which is fully committed to giving back to its local community – especially young people. Last year, the hotel raised a grand total of THB 159,576 (approx. US$5,200) for charitable causes in the Chiang Mai area.
