AUSTRALIAN owned and operated destination specialist, The Beyond Travel Group, has launched an initiative, appealing to the Australian trade, consumer and general market, to boost tourism numbers back to Sri Lanka to assist a country devastated by the drastic drop in international visitors.

‘Support Sri Lanka’ (www.supportsrilanka.com.au) has been developed to provide both short and long term assistance. For immediate relief, financial donations are urgently needed to assist locals both directly associated with the tourism industry- such as drivers and guides, as well as those effected down the supply chain- such as local farmers who sell produce to hotels and the like- which without guests do not require locally grown produce.

For the long term, the goal is to stimulate tourism in Sri Lanka by creating awareness of the current situation and to encourage Australians to look to this diverse and captivating country for their next holiday and aid the recovery process in doing so.

CEO of The Beyond Travel Group, Michael Lavilles, recently returned from a fact-finding mission to Sri Lanka where he saw firsthand the impact the 80% decline in tourists has had, both socially and economically on a substantial number of local families.

“We have already committed to helping 30 families with direct relief through Beyond Travel donations and the generous donation of $10,000 through our partners at PayPal. By investing in the country now, we are helping them secure a future for tourism in their nation”.

“We want to be transparent with the industry, this is not a product drive for our business but an action to join with competitors and comrades alike to be charitable to a country that in modern years has seen much tragedy and desperately requires a helping hand to regain its confidence and livelihood”.

To encourage people and businesses to help support as many families as possible, Beyond Travel has committed to co-contributing to the cause; for every $30 donation made online by November 30, donors receive a $30 ‘Support Sri Lanka’ appreciation voucher redeemable against any service featured on www.Sri-Lanka-and-Beyond.com.au, this is available for redemption until November 30, 2019 (terms and conditions apply).

For those planning on travelling there, when you book any Sri Lanka tour of 10 or more days featured on www.Sri-Lanka-and-Beyond.com.au a $15 per person donation will be made on your behalf to the Support Sri Lanka foundation when product is booked and deposited by November 30 2019.
