Luxury purveyor of spectacular adventures Abercrombie & Kent has released an extraordinary new 48-day grand Arctic voyage from Norway’s Svalbard archipelago to Greenland, Iceland and through the Northwest Passage and the Canadian Arctic to Nome, Alaska. This sweeping expedition across the top of the world takes in five distinct Arctic regions on one all-encompassing adventure.

The epic journey combines A&K’s three Arctic expeditionary cruises starting off in the Svalbard Islands, haven for the mighty polar bear and an abundance of rare wildlife. The remote and rarely-visited east coast of Greenland is a highlight with possible stops including Kaiser Franz Josef Fjords, Scoresby Sound and the Inuit village of Ittoqqortoormiit. There’s a private, behind-the-scenes tour at Iceland’s renowned Husavik Whale Museum, supported by A&K Philanthropy, before exploring Iceland’s western fjords and the glaciers and villages of Greenland. Tracing the steps of Erik the Red, ancient archaeological sites are visited and the faraway city of Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, provides the gateway to a captivating fjord system.

From the west coast of Greenland, the journey crosses the Arctic Circle and begins its navigation of the legendary Northwest Passage following in the footsteps of pioneering polar explorers. Geological wonders abound too from the “Smoking Hills” of Franklin Bay to the dramatic Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site teeming with icebergs. The route may include Beechy Island, Franklin Camp, Fort Ross and Gjoa Haven and the rarely visited Yukon Territory is another highlight before the journey reaches its end in Nome, Alaska.

A&K’s Expedition Team of accomplished, real-life explorers – ranging from award-winning scientists to habitat conservationists, historians and recipients of the prestigious Polar Medal – bring the voyage to life in a most extraordinary way. Guests can count on insight and guidance from an average of 20 A&K Expedition Team members every step of the way, with interactions that include adventurous Zodiac cruises, fascinating lectures, unforgettable wildlife encounters and stories best shared over meals. A&K’s dedicated photo coach is an integral part of the voyage, allowing guests to hone their skills with lectures and hands-on workshops for both experts and budding photographers alike, in one of the world’s most photogenic settings.

By chartering the luxurious mega-yacht Le Boreal, A&K is able to limit guest capacity to 199, which not only allows unrestricted access to landing sites prohibited to larger vessels, but also affords an intimate staff-to-guest ratio of 1 to 1.3, as well as a private balcony in every stateroom and suite. The voyage is all-inclusive, featuring arrival and departure transfers, gratuities and bar drinks, in addition to complimentary Wi-Fi and Traveller’s Valet® laundry service – exclusive A&K amenities.

A fresh menu inspired by France’s culinary heritage encompasses everything from lavish multi-course dinners and international buffets to carefully-selected cheeses and freshly-baked pastries that rival those found in Paris. With a choice of restaurants, no formal evenings, and 24-hour room service, guests have the flexibility to dine when and where they wish.

To ensure travellers have all the gear they need for their polar voyage (and not use up valuable luggage space), A&K provides a custom expedition parka, backpack and water bottle. Guests also enjoy complimentary use of boots, waterproof pants and trekking poles, all of which are delivered to staterooms, courtesy of A&K’s exclusive concierge service.
