Diaverum is pleased to announce its expansion into Africa, with a partnership with Centre d’Hémodialyse de Marrakech (CHM), a renal care centre founded in 1991 by Dr Idrissi Kaitouni, its leading Nephrologist. The partnership will expand Diaverum’s presence to 20 countries worldwide. Today, Morocco is a market with over 25,000 End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients, a number which is expected to grow steadily on the back of solid socio-demographic fundamentals.

Dimitris Moulavasilis, CEO of Diaverum, comments; “We are really proud to enter Morocco with CHM and help implement the high-quality care model proposed by Dr Idrissi Kaitouni and his staff. The partnership is in line with our strategy to expand into new markets and our mission to provide life enhancing renal care to patients with Chronic Kidney Disease around the world. Diaverum looks forward to providing its services to patients in Morocco and enable them to live a fulfilling life.”

Diaverum aims to use its industry-leading execution capabilities and proprietary care delivery model in partnership with Dr Idrissi Kaitouni and his team to further improve care and medical outcomes for local patients. Diaverum also plans to offer foreign patients who are keen to visit Morocco the ability to receive renal care services while on holiday, as part of its programme “d.HOLIDAY.” Furthermore, Diaverum plans to roll out access to its training programme “d.ACADEMY”, which helps educate patients and families about Chronic Kidney Disease.

“I look forward to this partnership with Diaverum, a patient-centric organisation whose values and standards of care greatly impressed me”, notes Dr Idrissi Kaitouni.

“First and foremost, what structured our partnership was our shared vision of continuously improving patient care through our complementary skillsets and our common focus in offering a premium experience to both local and holiday or seasonal patients, in and around Marrakesh” adds Hervé Gourgouillon, Managing Director for Diaverum France.

Throughout its history, CHM has continuously displayed commitment to deliver high standards of care to its patients. This approach was reflected in the relocation in 2015 to a new premises with state-of-the-art infrastructure, which is tailored to renal care and leverages high standard quality procedures and care protocols. Today, CHM accommodates a large base of local patients and a growing inflow of holiday or seasonal patients that are looking to be treated with the highest standard of care.

CHM was founded in 1991 by Dr Idrissi Kaitouni, its leading Nephrologist. After obtaining a Medicine Degree in Rabat, Morocco, Dr Idrissi Kaitouni specialised in Nephrology at Paris Descartes University, France, and then started as Nephrologist at University Hospital of Amiens, France. Dr Idrissi Kaitouni has also been President of the Moroccan Nephrology Society and General Secretary of the Regional Order of Physicians in Morocco.
