For customers looking for a travel experience packed with rich travel highlights that take them beyond the guidebooks, Trafalgar has today released its highly anticipated suite of 2020 USA & Canada itineraries, including 12 new trips and experiences to delight its guests and add to its award-winning product line up.

2020 sees the brand introduce Active itineraries, perfect for lovers of the great outdoors, featuring a walk or a hike most days, with guests having the freedom to take on different trails best suited to fitness levels for their ultimate enjoyment. State Explorer trips will like the name suggests, give customers an even deeper look at particular states and what makes them so unique, unearthing experiences across Hawaii, Colorado, California and Massachusetts, the home of glamourous Martha’s Vineyard.

The brand is also proud to announce a brand-new concept for its City Explorer trips to traveller favourites, San Francisco and New York. Trafalgar’s guests can choose from included ‘Daily Choice’ options, to tailor their days with hand selected inclusions to unlock the magic of each city suited to their preference, along with the expert guidance of their Travel Director to bring their choices to life in even greater depth. New York’s various boroughs and San Francisco’s various districts are all explored with the expertise of Local Specialists who are experts in each of these areas.

Other new trips include the Scenic Wonders of Newfoundland, Labrador and Ile Saint Pierre. With Trafalgar, guests will spend two nights in Labrador, including a special experience with a local scallop farmer for an in-depth look at his farming practice as well as a tasting. Other new trips have been designed specifically with the off-season travel in mind, visiting amazing places during parts of the season where guests can benefit from less crowds, minimal traffic while witnessing the famous charm of the area in the seasons of Autumn, Winter, and Spring. Those new programs that will travel during AWS are for sun-chasers, not snow-chasers. AWS is the only time the great deserts and national parks of Southern California can be visited comfortably – warm days, cool nights, while during the summer, the searing heat of these area make them impossible to explore in comfort.

In line with its JoinTrafalgar sustainability initiatives that help make a difference to people, places and wildlife and the planet, 2020 sees a brand-new trip, solely focused in immersing guests in Native American history and culture. The Southwest Native Trails will take travellers off the beaten path to ruins, dwellings, and places of great significance including monumental Canyon de Chelly providing access to native communities and traditions across an entire itinerary. This joins other pre-existing JoinTrafalgar experiences like meeting Stephen Yellowhawk from the Scenic Parks Explorer, who is helping to keep the important Native American traditions and history of his tribe alive through song and dance. Another favourite includes meeting host Ancil at O’O Farm in Hawaii, a passionate local with a focus on organic farming and agricultural education, spearheading positive change and bio-dynamic practices on Maui.

An exclusive overnight stay in the glamorous Martha’s Vineyard has been added to the collection of Trafalgar’s signature Stays with Stories, handpicked to inspire the imagination of guests and connect them to the destination through culturally significant overnight locations. Note that Martha’s Vineyard is not new for 2020.

Trafalgar is also extending its National Parks offering, expanding its extensive list with Gros Morne in Newfoundland to Rocky Mountain National Park, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Saguaro, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve as well as UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Chaco Culture National Historic Park – the largest collection of important pre-Colombian cultural and historical areas in the USA. Guests will also visit Tucson – the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy, and ‘Dark City,’ for a Foodie Experience with a local Expert, and an exploration of the desert skies with local astronomers. Another Trafalgar favourite is staying in the heart of the iconic Yellowstone National Park, where guests have unprecedented after-hours access to experience the breathtaking park after dark.

Customer favourites are back for another year, including a Dive into Culture in Nashville to experience a gig with a member of Johnny Cash’s family, wine tasting with a local family in Sonoma, visiting the South’s last remaining Cotton Plantation in Mississippi or indulging in a French feast with a lunch of local Quebecois treats.

The USA & Canada is home to some eye opening soul stirring Be My Guest experiences where customers can Connect with Locals with 28 one-of-a-kind local experiences on offer, like getting outback at the Guinn Family Ranch in the breathtaking Canadian Rockies, learning about the art of Californian Olive Oil on an award-winning grove, or at the Southern Mansion home of Esther Carpenter, one of America’s former top 10 female chefs. In Louisville, guests can personally meet childhood friend of Muhammad Ali for a private after-hours tour, dinner and Q&A session at the Muhammad Ali Centre. New for 2020 on The Great Trans-Canadian Journey is a visit to the family owned Okanagan Valley winery for a tasting and farm-to-fork cuisine paired with storytelling from the owners about their home and the region perfect for growing grapes.

“Guests today want a deeper travel experience, as well as seeing all the sights they’ve always dreamed of, and Trafalgar has the balance right” says Gavin Tollman, Trafalgar’s CEO. “We are constantly innovating to offer our guests new, eye-opening experiences expertly planned out by our passionate North American team and are so excited to share the connections we have in this part of the world.
