This winter, the National Gallery of Australia presents Monet: Impression Sunrise, featuring Claude Monet’s seminal painting Impression, Soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise) 1872, which coined the name of the impressionist movement. Impression, Soleil levant rarely leaves Paris and will be accompanied by a superb collection of impressionist and related paintings from the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, the Tate, as well as Australian and New Zealand collections. The exhibition also features magnificent artworks by JMW Turner, James McNeill Whistler, Alfred Sisley and Eugène Boudin, among others.
