Qatar Airways and Orbital Education have celebrated the Official Opening of the Oryx International School’s iconic new, purpose-built Mesaimeer campus on Sunday 28 April 2019.Qatar’s Minister of Transport and Communications, His Excellency Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, attended the official opening event, along with the Chairman of Orbital Education, Mr. Kevin McNeany.
The new Mesaimeer campus, which first opened its doors to Oryx International School students in September 2018, includes cutting-edge science and technology laboratories, inspiring performing arts facilities, a 25m indoor swimming pool, five-star sporting facilities and an ultramodern auditorium.
The school, which was initially located near the airline’s headquarters, has operated in partnership with Orbital Education since 2016 and offers a modified version of the National Curriculum of England for the children of Qatar Airways’ employees, from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 10.
Qatar’s Minister of Transport and Communications, His Excellency Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, said: “I am proud to see our national carrier of the State of Qatar provide such a world-class facility, further reinforcing our country’s commitment to excellence. This school will help educate a new generation of leaders, many of whom I know will make valuable contributions to the future of Qatar.”

A multiple-award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was named ‘World’s Best Business Class’ by the 2018 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named ‘Best Business Class Seat’, ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’, and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.
Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 250 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA), to more than 160 destinations worldwide.
Qatar Airways will add a number of new destinations to its extensive route network in 2019, including Lisbon, Portugal; Malta; Rabat, Morocco; Izmir, Turkey; Langkawi, Malaysia; Davao, Philippines; and Mogadishu, Somalia.
