While it will never be said that 25 Degrees Singapore would ever knock a beef burger, there is definitely more than one way to sizzle a patty.

For the month of May and June, enjoy the Vegan Burger – featuring the 100 per cent plant-based Beyond Burger patty that’s been making waves across the world. Wash it down with vegan-friendly Pilsner Urquell, the world’s first blond or pale lager hailing all the way from the town of Plzen in Czech Republic.

WHAT’S IN A BEYOND PATTY?

Seven years in the making, the Beyond Patty is a game-changing vegan patty that revolutionised the future of food in 2016 when Los Angeles-based plant-based meat substitutes producer Beyond Meats released the first plant-based burger in Whole Foods supermarkets across the United States, quickly gaining international traction and acclaim.

Made from natural plant-based ingredients where the architecture of meat is reassembled from plant equivalents such as pea protein and beetroot—with nutritional benefits that weigh in better than its meat alternative—the Beyond Burger looks, cooks, sizzles and satisfies like fresh ground beef, in addition to containing zero cholesterol, no hormones, no antibiotics and with even higher protein content than a beef patty.

VEGAN BURGER + VEGAN BEER = YES, PLEASE!

From 1 May to 30 June, substitute your meat hankerings with 25 Degrees Singapore’s Vegan Burger (S$18++) – featuring a 4 oz Beyond Burger patty, seared to a lightly charred exterior that gives in to a juicy patty and crumbles as satisfyingly as handmade ground beef. Stacked with tarragon-flavoured coleslaw, chunky portobello mushroom, tomato confit, melted vegan cheddar, rocket, pickled red onions and held together with a pair of fluffy charcoal buns that are toasted to a crisp.

What better way to wash down a vegan burger than with a vegan beer – and the world’s first pilsner, no less. Hailing all the way from Czech Republic, the Pilsner Urquell (S$16++) dates back to 1842 in the beer-making town of Plzen. Its golden clear hue and crisp, light body blew the doors off the dark and cloudy beers of the time – while most lagers give away most of their taste profile in the front of the mouth, Pilsner Urquell only hints at its flavour there. Instead, it develops in the middle, followed by a refreshing, clean finish and balanced aftertaste, practically inviting you to have another.
