More than 15,000 attendees are expected to visit Sydney’s International Convention Centre over the next three days, making it one of Australia’s largest technology conferences.

Opening with Amazon Innovation Day, Glenn Gore, Worldwide Lead Solutions Architect for AWS will provide an overview of how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are driving customer-focused innovation. Attendees will hear about skills needed for jobs of the future with talks from Atlassian, and Amazon Robotics’ Chief Technologist, Tye Brady.

The following two-day AWS Summit will explore how businesses from startups to enterprises can survive, compete, and thrive in a constantly evolving, technology-driven world. Attendees will hear from Australian unicorn Canva about their business journey as a born in the cloud startup, and Formula 1 about how they’re using data analytics services to deliver new metrics that are changing the way fans and teams experience racing.

“To remain competitive, every company in the world has to keep transforming its customer experience, and the way they does business. Cloud technology has paved the way for accelerated innovation, helping businesses remain relevant and competitive by lowering costs, and providing the solutions to create and bring services to market quickly. Our annual Sydney Summit brings together thought leaders, subject matter experts, customers, and partners in a four day education event aimed at enabling customers with skills and best practices to innovate faster and more effectively,” said Paul Migliorini, Managing Director for AWS in Australia and New Zealand.

AWS Summit will include demonstrations, for attendees to explore how technologies such as the internet of things (IoT), AI, ML, and augmented and virtual reality are revolutionising the future of sport, retail, entertainment, and city infrastructure.

Attendees will also experience the world’s first global autonomous racing series, the AWS DeepRacer League, driving cars built on Amazon SageMaker. Designed to showcase the technology in an interactive and entertaining way, the 1/18th scale AWS DeepRacer cars use ML technology, which teaches itself new driving patterns through learned experiences.

“It’s clear that the rapid evolution of AI, ML, and cloud computing technologies is changing the way we live, work, and play. We will have a number of technology demonstrations for attendees to discover what our digital future will look like by showcasing the future of retail with an interactive store, the next level of fan engagement in sport, and how automation is transforming airports across the world. We are also inviting developers to get hands-on experience using the latest AI technology by starting their engines and joining the global DeepRacer League activation, for the chance to advance to the Championship Cup at AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas later this year,” said Mr Migliorini.
