International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) received acclaim overnight at the Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) National Awards, taking home the Education and Training Award and the Event Manager of the Year – in-house; Dewi Gutierrez, while also receiving highly commended for Best Venue – capacity over 500.

Held in Brisbane as a part of the Evolve 2019 Conference, the awards bring together the best of each state and recognise those at the top of the nation in the meetings and events industry.

CEO of ICC Sydney, Geoff Donaghy said that venue’s achievements are reflective of its innovative approach across all aspects of services and the exceptionally talented team behind every event delivery.

“To be honoured with three national accolades as we faced the best-of-the-best in our industry from around the country is a fantastic achievement for our venue and the team.

“Our team members are at the heart of world class operations, and for both Dewi and our Learning and Development initiatives to be is recognised is a testament to the programs we have in place to nurture talent. Dewi has been a shining star since she joined us pre-opening and consistently receives positive feedback from clients following the success of their events.

“Further to this, for our venue to be highly commended amongst the very best in Australia is immensely rewarding and we congratulate all of our peers on their MEA award success,” Donaghy said.

Chief Executive Officer of MEA, Robyn Johnson said ICC Sydney was a truly worthy winner and the awards were a reflection of the new industry benchmark the venue was setting across its event delivery.

“Our members and the industry have watched the venue grow from strength to strength since it opened just over two years ago, with their approach to event delivery and supporting their team members setting new standards in our industry, “Johnson said.
