Rottnest Island, the first new accommodation on Rottnest Island in over 30 years, today opens with a sell-out first weekend.

The 2.8 hectare property is nestled behind the dunes of famous Pinky Beach with 83 fully furnished eco-tents, a resort pool and pool bar, along with property centerpiece – Pinky’s Beach Club.

Discovery – Rottnest Island General Manager Andy Cleverley said that the property brings world-class glamping to Rottnest Island.

“Today we welcome our first guests to the new Discovery – Rottnest Island, showcasing what is a truly spectacular tourism experience.”

“Our opening has been years in the making and is much anticipated by everyone from Perth locals to international travel trade. Our opening weekend along with most of March and Easter are heavily booked, and this weekend marks an exciting milestone,” said Andy.

Discovery – Rottnest Island’s 83 eco tents come in four service levels with each tent featuring an ensuite bathroom, pillow-topped bed and furnished private decks. Many tents also include kitchenettes, with the Deluxe tents boasting opulent beachfront views and walk-in wardrobes.

The eco tents are linked via walkways and boardwalks to Pinky’s Beach Club, which is the heart of the property, and the ideal place to capture the sunset over a meal or drink.

“We recognise that Rottnest Island is a special place for locals, with the vast majority of visitors to the island being West Australians,” said Andy.

“We aim to add an exciting new experience to the traditional Rotto family holiday, while also giving interstate and international guests a new reason to visit and stay at Rottnest Island,” said Andy.

Discovery – Rottnest Island is Rottnest’s first eco-resort and the first new accommodation to be built on the island in more than 30 years.  The property is the result of a joint venture between two of Australia’s most experienced tourism operators – Baileys Group and Discovery Holiday Parks.

Significant support from, and collaboration with, the Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) has taken the property from concept to reality.

Discovery – Rottnest Island has created more than 70 full-time, part-time and casual employment opportunities for hospitality industry personnel on the Island.

The property was developed by locals with construction of the resort generating 200 direct jobs including architects, project consultants, builders and trades, and around 350 indirect jobs.
