Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) has announced a series of refurbished spaces across the precinct, which aim to enhance and revamp Melbourne’s iconic sporting event experience.

Kick-starting the 2019 season, Rod Laver Arena has unveiled a brand-new three level “pod-style” guest entrance in time for the Australian Open tournament, wrapping up its final championship match last weekend.

The Arena has unveiled the completion of its new dining and bar offerings, including The Balloon Bar, Railyards Bistro & Bar, Upper Deck, The Observatory, The Racquet Club and The Superbox Lounge – all of which are paired with world-class Australian hospitality and their own unique identity.

The revamped dining and bar spaces will open for the 15,000 people confirmed to attend the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on February 10, 2019.

“Melbourne Park is home to some of Australia’s most legendary sporting moments in history. Our mission for refurbishment was driven by our love for entertainment, in which we wanted to immerse audiences and guests with the atmosphere of the event. Whether at the Australian Open Tennis Championship or a corporate event – the event space is the key ingredient in creating the experience and ultimately guests life-long memories”, said Lara Burnes, General Manager – Premier Events & Experiences, Melbourne & Olympic Parks.

For those interested in corporate or private hospitality, M&OP have also revealed a suite of spaces for guests to experience action packed sporting events. Be it from the privacy of their exclusive suite or Superbox at any one of the park’s venues, or within one of the many refurbished or new spaces on offer across the Park’s venues.

M&OP offers flexible event spaces across AAMI Park, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Arena and Margaret Court Arena; where an event can be seamlessly transformed from indoor to outdoor in a matter of minutes, inviting the outside in with no fear of Melbourne’s unpredictable weather ruining your affair.

“Our immersive private event rooms are designed to adapt to any occasion. We offer bespoke behind the scenes tours through AAMI Park allowing people to walk in the footsteps of some of the country’s iconic sporting heroes. These developments and offerings were all inspired with the intention to leave guests talking about your event long after it’s over”, said Burnes.

Set to be unveiled at Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) (18-20 February 2019), M&OP’s new function and media centre is scheduled to open in February 2022, promising to elevate the precinct’s capabilities yet again.
