Spread the love

Many travel to New Zealand for natural beauty, outdoor attractions and the temperate climate. Many of New Zealand’s best loved tourist attractions are outside, and travellers are often at a loss when the rain begins to fall and the weather isn’t quite as they had hoped it would be during their visit. Despite the outward image, New Zealand is a great place to explore come rain or shine, and in Auckland, especially, there are plenty of hidden gems to keep you happy during drizzly days. Whether you are single or on a date, you won’t run out of rainy day activities in Auckland

Auckland has gathered a reputation for being a millennial playground, home to quirky cafes and places to hang out which will make you feel as though your excursion was worth missing. If you’re a fan of animals but the weather was too drizzly to hit the beach, why not hit a cat cafe to scratch the itch. You’ll be able to enjoy a coffee and a piece of cake in the company of some furry friends. If that doesn’t take your fancy, grab a friend and head down to one of Auckland’s board game cafes.

If you’re not at all keen on cats or Monopoly, Auckland is home to an eclectic mix of coffee shops which make for great getaways for reading a book. Auckland is one of the few cities still hanging on to local cafes and coffee shops, and even though some establishments have been questioned about the high price of their drinks, the city has largely avoided giving in to multinational coffee chains. Literature fans can be assured that there are plenty of nooks to curl up in and get stuck into a book. Downtown, Revel is a favourite amongst bookworms for their hot chocolate and vegan nachos. If you want to surround yourself with culture, head to the Auckland Art Gallery Cafe, and you can kill two birds with one stone.

One of the joys of the rain means that you don’t necessarily have to rush out early in the morning to make your way on an excursion. Instead you could indulge in some of Auckland’s nightlife. Whilst it isn’t known for clubbing, Auckland has an array of incredible bars and evening spots where you can dance your socks off until the early hours. If you have never been to a casino, it might be a your time to try it out. SkyCity in Auckland is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and plays host to an array of gaming machines and a baccarat room, the game which was made famous by James Bond.

If 007 is your only experience of gaming, you might want to try your hand at a few online games before you head to SkyCity. Kiwis are becoming more and more catered for when it comes to iGaming, as you can see if you click here, where New Zealand’s players are offered bonuses of up to NZ$1000. This sort of gaming is no longer out of the nation’s reach.

When it rains, you don’t feel as though your time in Auckland is being wasted as there are plenty of activities to enjoy. Even if a rainy day is only spent planning forthcoming trips before heading out for an evening of fun, you’ll be able to find a quirky place in which to hang out and enjoy Auckland’s friendly vibes.
