With the start of the Christmas holidays in Berlin and Brandenburg, Schönefeld and Tegel airports are again expected to see an increase in travel volume. Around 1.26 million passengers will fly to and from Berlin during the entire holiday period. The two airports will be particularly busy at the beginning of the Christmas holidays, on 21 and 22 December 2018, and after the Christmas holidays, on 27 and 28 December 2018. Return traffic to Berlin Tegel on 2 and 3 January 2019 and to Berlin Schönefeld on 4 and 5 January 2019 will lead to an increased volume of passengers. The most popular destinations for the Christmas holiday season are Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Turkey, Egypt and Morocco.

Passengers are advised to keep themselves up-to-date about their flight status by telephone or by looking online before departing and to use the online check-in facilities. Passengers are also requested to arrive at the airport at least two hours before departing and to pass through security as quickly as possible.
Prohibited items in checked baggage: Power banks, tablets, e-cigarettes
Electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets or power banks are not only found in virtually everybody’s baggage today, they are also popular Christmas gifts. It is important for passengers to know that e-cigarettes, power banks and lighters do not belong in checked baggage, but to a certain extent can be carried in hand luggage or on someone’s person. Pyrotechnics, which are popular at New Year’s, are not allowed in hand luggage or checked luggage.
