An Australian company aiming to solve the dual problems of boredom and deal-hunting while travelling in Australia has released a world-first tech solution to ensure you’ll “never be bored again”.http://www.germany.travel/en/index.html

Gold Coast-based travel experiences provider Experience Oz – named last week as “Online Booking Website of the Year” at the Australian Travel Awards in Sydney – has launched its industry-first “Things to do Near Me” tool to provide both locals and travellers with a way to discover new and mustdo experiences.

The tool, which uses your phone’s geolocation data (upon granting permission) cross-referenced with the company’s range of over 3,000 experiences across Australia to provide a list of experiences within easy travel distance of the user’s current location, is the first of its kind on the global market.

Users can filter the tool by distance, to ensure only experiences within walking distance or a certain drive time are displayed. They are then able to view information, imagery and video on each experience, as well as book them instantly online.

Experience Oz Director, Ben Manns, said the tool was developed in response to customers and feedback on social media from travellers arriving in-destination and not realising how far some attractions truly were from their accommodation.

“From years worth of feedback, we’ve seen that people still often don’t pre-plan what they’re going to do activity-wise before they arrive in-destination, with many bookings very last-minute and even same-day,” Mr Manns said.

“As many Aussies don’t travel with a car but still want to be able to enjoy themselves with quality experiences on a trip, we wanted to give them the ability to see what’s nearby at a glance, then book their tours or tickets at our usual good price.”

The tool also comes as a response to the continued rapid growth of mobile users booking travel, as opposed to on desktop computers.

With over 60% of users on the Experience Oz platform now mobile, and growing confidence in completing bookings and transacting with credit cards on mobile devices, the emphasis for booking experiences “on the go” has become more of a focus for travel companies throughout Australia.
