The European debut of the Sustainable Event Professional Certificate (SEPC), one of the main international
event sustainability certifications for the meetings & events industry, has been postponed to March 28-30, 2019.Relaunched by the Events Industry Council, the global champion for event professionals and event industry excellence promoting high standards and professionalism in the events industry with the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program and signature program initiatives, the SEPC credential will take place at the
Fairmont Monte-Carlo on the initiative of both Miek Egberts’, Owner, InspireME Monte-Carlo boutique consultancy agency specializing in creative and high profile MICE events, and Claudia van’t Hullenaar, Founder, Sustained
Impact, a consultancy helping organizations connect organizational success with societal value.

Miek, a Certified Incentive Travel (CITP) and Meeting Management Professional (CMM) as well as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), is not new to international prominence, having received the Jane E. Schuldt SITE Master Motivator Award last May, the world’s biggest recognition for the motivators of the meeting & incentive industry. She’s also served twice as president of Site Italy Chapter, and chaired the organizing committee of the first Site+MPI Global Forum taking place in Rome last January.

Claudia is a longtime multi-disciplinary professional in marketing communications and sustainability with corporate background. Under her leadership her company was awarded the IMEX-GMIC Green Meetings Award for developing and implementing a comprehensive global corporate event sustainability program. . She is Certified
Event Designer (CED) and Sustainability Advisor in the Meetings Industry, and serves as Sustainability Committee member of the Events Industry Council (EIC) as a Climate Reality Leader.

Both Miek and Claudia are committed to sustainability, helping organizations develop strategic solutions and integrate responsible business approaches in events and businesses.

Program and content
The two-day training course, aimed at corporate, independent and third-party event organizers, services/venue suppliers as well as anyone interested in sustainability in events, and led by Mariela McIlwraith, CMP, CMM, MBA, Director, Industry Advancement, Events Industry Council, provides insights and active learning to enable participants to implement their own sustainable events.

Topics will include understanding the business value of sustainability, learn sustainable design methods and techniques as well as about international sustainable event standards and measurement and reporting methodologies.

At the end of the courses, the participants will be recognized with the Sustainable Event Professional Certificate (SEPC). The course is eligible for eight hours of Continuing Education Credits towards the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) application or recertification.

This program is supported by Visit Monaco, Fairmont Monte-Carlo and Columbus Monte-Carlo.
