Launceston Airport has won a prestigious Innovation and Excellence Award at the 2018 Australian Airports Association industry awards, making it Launceston’s fifth AAA win in four years.The airport was recognised for its recent terminal reconfiguration after it completely transformed theterminal layout
to create a better traveller experience.

Launceston Airport General Manager Paul Hodgen accepted the award on Wednesday night on behalf of his team.
“I am extremely proud to receive this award and to be recognised by the industry for our investment into improving
the functionality of the terminal,” said Mr Hodgen.

“Wehavemade a real effort to create a strong sense of place at the airport and under our new layout travellers get to
experience our city’s hospitality and retail offering for longer all while being inthe company of their loved ones. ;
“Following the terminal reconfiguration the airport’s quality service monitoring figures skyrocketed, with passengers
reporting that wait-times and wayfinding had improved.

“Our airline partners also noticed reductions in security-related delays and boarding discrepancy delays –a great
example of how putting the customer experience first really creates a positive impact on the overall traveller journey.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the tremendous efforts of the project team led by Planning and
Development Manager, Ilya Brucksch-Domanski and also the wider Launceston Airport staff who can take immense
pride from this achievement.

“It is also pleasing to win an Innovation ad Excellence Award in the same year that we celebrated our 20 years since
privatisation, highlighting the significant suite of upgrades and enhancements that we have been able to achieve
through private ownership.”

AAA Chief Executive Office Caroline Wilkie praised Launceston Airport for its commitment to improving efficiency.
“Launceston Airport’s ‘airside flip’ has not only delivered better options for passengers, but has improved efficiency
for the airport as a whole. This project reflects clever investment and design and will deliver lasting benefits to the
region for years to come,” said Ms Wilkie.
