Dogs’ Day Out returns on Sunday 14 October, and this year Floriade is giving all dog lovers the opportunity to celebrate their four-legged friends with the ultimate Superhero Dogs’ Day Out!http://www.tourismthailand.org/landing/landing_en.html All pups, big and small, are invited to soak up the sunshine and explore Floriade with special dog-friendly activities and entertainment throughout the day including presentations, a superhero costume contest, food and beverage for pups and owners, appearances by celebrity pups Avalon and Maluka (The Adventures of Avalon and Maluka) and more.

The full day of paw-some activities will include:

  • Animal Rescue Group Meet and Greet: Come have a chat with Canberra animal rescue groups like RSPCA ACT, ARF and 4Lyfe at this year’s Dogs’ Day Out. Meet some gorgeous pooches looking for their new forever homes.
  • Dog Demo Area: Six dog demonstrations will be performed in the Dog Demo Area (entry into Stage 88 area) by Four Paws Sport and local Canberra Dog Obedience Clubs
  • Best Dressed Dog: Following a successful 2017 contest with 50 entrants, the 2018 Best Dressed Dog theme is Superheros to align with Floriade’s pop culture theme. Owners and their dogs are encouraged to dress up in their best Superhero attire. All participants receive a prize with major prizes going to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Sign up is available on the day at Stage 88
  • Breed Group Photos: 17 breeds and three fully inclusive sessions (small, giant and rescue). Participants are encouraged to tap into their dog world network and encourage same breeds to gather together to get a group photo against the Floriade pop culture backdrop (left hand side of Stage 88). A professional photographer will be taking the photos which will be available online for people to download for free. Breeds and times are on the Floriade website
  • Creative Grooming Showcase: Appearing for the first time at Floriade Dogs’ Day Out, Canberra’s best dog groomers will show off their creative talents ranging from simple accessories to unique haircuts and spectacular colouring
  • KONG: The iconic dog toy brand returns to Dogs’ Day Out for a presentation—toys included!
  • Pooch Café: Located opposite main Stage 88, there will be café tables and chairs set up where dogs and their owners can enjoy the food and entertainment up on the main stage. A variety of dog treats will be available for purchase
  • Pooch Bar: Capital Brewing Co. will have lots of doggie beer at their pub this year. Located alongside the Dog Demo Area, owners can sit back, relax and have a brew whilst watching the entertainment
  • Puppis Paw: TEDx Canberra alum Gemma Thomson will exhibit Puppis Paw’s dog poo recycling process using Dung Beetles to create compost to fertilise gardens
  • Retail Exhibitors: 26 vendors will be selling toys, treats, collars, leads, clothing, kennels, grooming accessories, comfy plush beds, dog food, dog giftware, pet hotels, pet friendly accommodation and dog washing will also be available from Jim’s Dog Washing
  • Superhero Photo Board: Bring your pup for a photo against the superhero-themed backdrop. Volunteers will be available to take photos
  • Best Photo Competition: Following Dog’s Day Out, this contest will run on the A Pooch Affair Facebook page. Attendees are encouraged to send in their favourite photo of their dog enjoying Dogs’ Day Out. Events ACT are free to use any of the photos for future promos. Photos will be shared on the A Pooch Affair Facebook page, where winners will be announced Friday 19th Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 photos
