Plymouth 10k and 5k Races New George Street, Plymouth 08.30am (10k) and 10.15am (5kSunday 7 October

Intrepid runners are gearing up for the forthcoming Plymouth 10k and 5k races. Attracting in the region of 3,000 competitors, the event is suitable for runners of all abilities and gives everyone the opportunity to challenge themselves, aim for a new personal best, and raise more than just their heartbeat for a charitable cause. Following on from last year’s demand, the organisers ‘Event West’ have made changes to the start and finish line in order to accommodate even more runners for both races.

Now in its 4th year, the Plymouth 10k is the largest road race in Devon and Cornwall and holds an undulating course, suitable for runners of all abilities. The course is a fast, relatively flat, traffic-free road race that takes an out and back route through Plymouth’s historic city centre landmarks and the nearby scenic River Plym.

Plymouth’s 5k event has also seen a surge of popularity and following last year’s impressive engagement with the 5k Schools Challenge, race organisers have added a fresh 5k race this year. The fledgling event will be a closed road race, providing both novice and younger runners with an excellent route to earn their first medal. In addition there is a new famous mascot race, featuring Plymouth Argyle Football Club’s ‘Foxy’ and ‘Pilgrim Pete’ who will take each other on to raise even more funds for charitable causes.
