Australia and New Zealand’s largest hotel operator, AccorHotels, has collected 16 coveted award wins at the 2018 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence, held at Sydney’s International Convention Centre on Friday night (7th September). The night wrapped up on an exceptional high with Simon McGrath, AccorHotels’ Chief Operating Officer Pacific, being honoured as HM Magazine Australasian Hotelier of the Year, for the second consecutive year.

ibis Adelaide was crowned Economy Property of the Year, marking its third win in this category, whilst Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour was awarded Best New Hotel, following its 2017 Grand Opening. AccorHotels awardwins extended regionally with AyersRock Resort’s Uluru Meeting Place taking out MICE Property of the YearFairmont Resort Blue MountainsMGallery by Sofitel winning the Best Regional Property award and Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge’s Waldheim Alpine Spa took out Day Spa of the Year.

AccorHotels group was awarded best Marketing Campaign for the Inspired by Her MGallery by Sofitel activation and Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour was again thrust into the spotlight, winning the Service to the Community award for their pre-opening charity event.

Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour was also crowned Australasian Hotel of the Year, with the AccorHotels group being highly commended for the Accommodation Chain for the Year award.

AccorHotels prevailed in the People Awards categories with the coveted Rising Star Award going to Kate Milross from Mercure Sydney International Airport, whilst the General Manager of the Year category was taken home by Mercure Sydney International Airport GM, Lorraine Mercuri. Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour’s, Jeremy Healy was also among those awarded, taking out New Zealand GM of the Year.
