Ecoventura, a leader in sustainable cruising through the Galapagos Islands, has announced the launch date of the MV Theory, its newest premium-class vessel and one of the greenest yachts to sail the archipelago.  Named after Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, the ship will bring five-star luxury to the seas when it departs on its maiden voyage on March 3, 2019.

MV Theory is a 20-passenger mega-yacht featuring 10 premium cabins all located on the same deck with interconnecting rooms and triple cabins available for groups and multi-generational families.  Each cabin features ample storage space and large, panoramic windows, connecting passengers with the rare Galapagos’ wildlife outside. Private bathrooms feature essential modern luxuries, including a rainfall shower, hairdryers, plush towels, and eco-friendly biodegradable soaps and shampoos.

The newest vessel to join Ecoventura’s fleet will feature similar onboard amenities to those of its sister ship, the MV Origin, including a full-time concierge, fitness centre, a sundeck with chic lounges and daybeds, an open-bar policy, and a Jacuzzi. 14 crew members and 2 local naturalist guides will take care of everything, offering the highest naturalist-to-passenger ratio in the region with just 10 guests per guide.

The MV Theory will operate on Ecoventura’s current schedule, which rotates between two seven-night itineraries which can be combined into a comprehensive two-week excursion. On both routes, guests can partake in daily shore excursions, optional snorkelling, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding tours, and will come face-to-face with the Galapagos’ freely wondering wildlife, including sea lions, Blue Footed Boobies, penguins, tortoises and more.

Joining its sister vessel, MV Origin as one of the most eco-friendly vessels in the Galapagos, MV Theory’s sustainable features – such as reusable water bottles, ecological toilets and an advanced water treatment plan that prevents untreated greywater or blackwater from being disposed into the ocean – will reduce fossil fuel consumption by more than 30%. Guests can also enjoy locally inspired Ecuadorian cuisine including sustainable, plant-based vegetarian and gluten-free meals, catering to a variety of food preferences.

Rates for 2019 start at US$7,850 per person based on double occupancy, and include all meals, beverages and snacks, Captain’s welcome and farewell social gatherings, an open-bar policy, including wine and spirits, guided shore excursions, and all marine activities and equipment, as well as transfers in the islands between the airport and dock.
