Spread the love

Located on Wellington Street in Central, celebrating the roots of Hong Kong’s culture through dining and art, Tycoon Tann continuously supports talented local and international artists. This year, Tycoon Tann is delighted to collaborate with well-known local artist Justin Y to offer a limited edition Lantern Mooncake Gift Box. Giving a taste of art, the mooncake gift box will showcase the new art piece by Justin Y, “Fiesta”. As mooncakes are a symbol of reunion and togetherness, customers are welcome to taste the tradition this Mid-Autumn Festival with family, friends and colleagues, and show them appreciation over a box of traditional egg custard mooncakes prepared specially by Tycoon Tann. Coinciding with the festivities, Tycoon Tann is delighted to announce its upcoming art exhibition “Moon Over Paradise” with Justin Y from now to 30 September 2018. Tycoon Tann invites all guests to revel in the art exhibition, indulge in modern Chinese cuisine and uniquely designed mooncakes to celebrate this Mid-Autumn Festival.

In collaboration with Justin Y, the limited edition mooncake gift box showcases the masterpiece “Fiesta” in the new collection named “In Conversation with Nature.” With the use of finger painting and vibrant colours and patterns, the piece is a joyous celebration of colours that symbolises the joy of togetherness. The golden yellow box is contrasted with the base of the stylish black box to create a classic yet stylish feel. Traditional knots cover the base of the gift box, adorned with a lucky charm that hangs from the side once again paying tribute to the reunion of family. The stunning yellow colour is chosen as the salutation of our traditional values of Chinese culture, and wishes prosperity and longevity in this special festival. In Chinese culture, yellow is the symbol of prestige, and was the exclusive colour used by the Emperor for thousands of years. In modern culture, it represents posterity and is still a crucial part of Chinese culture today. With LED lit from within, the limited edition mooncake gift box glows into an elegant lantern for families and friends to use over the festival.

The new pieces by Justin Y on display at Tycoon Tann’s dining rooms from now to 30 September 2018 are from his new collection titled “Moon Over Paradise.” The theme of the exhibition is the full moon, marking Mid-Autumn Festival as the perfect time to launch the exhibition. The entire collection consists of 8 art pieces including “The Winning Sensation,” “Flying High,” “As the Heart Desires,” “When the Stars Smile Upon You,” “Golden Opportunity,” “Celebration,” “Multi-Coloured Happiness,” and“Serenity,” all symbolising the satisfaction in life and anticipation of a good future.  This year at Tycoon Tann, the 8-course Mid-Autumn Festival Menu (HKD888 up per person, for minimum four persons) starting from 14 to 25 September offers a true indulgence combining Chinese cuisine and art to celebrate completeness and togetherness.

Local artist Justin Y said,” The exhibition “Moon Over Paradise” showcases the natural beauty of the moon and is a connection between nature, history and the journey of hope which lies ahead. Inspired by a stroll during a full moon in Sarajevo, the beauty of nature has provided the base and the emotional connection from my travel experiences completed the story. From there it reflects my perspective on everything I have seen, experienced and how I felt. The traces of war and inclusion of different cultures really touched me and I hope this collection does not only feature the beauty of nature, but ultimately can deliver a message of love, hope and anticipation of good future. On the other hand, Chinese culture has been instilled in me since I was young and I love traditional festivals. I always hoped that one day I could work on a project for Mid-Autumn Festival, because celebrating togetherness is something I hold very dear. For Tycoon Tann, this collection was conceived to showcase a Western approach to Chinese cuisine which is within the DNA of its cuisine. The cuisine re-interprets traditional dishes by combining innovative ideas and offering a meeting of East meets West dining experience. I used a Western finger painting approach to conceive the collection while applying a traditional yet modern designed for the mooncake gift box. I believe it’s a perfect match for the brand and the festival. I’m extremely happy to collaborate with Tycoon Tann and it’s a dream come true. I’m touched to see my art piece being realised into a beautiful lantern for celebrations this Mid-Autumn Festival.”
