Your private yacht is waiting

If you love the idea of living the life of a billionaire complete with your own private yacht and an adoring crew of 90, a SeaDream cruise is the only way to go.

The two yachts each cater to just 120 guests. The cost is reduced from October to December – take US$500 pp off prices. The six 7-day sailings are in the Caribbean – but if you are heading to the Med in August the special rate is available on a 7 day sailing from Rome to Nice. Details, email Julie Donovan at jdenonvan@seadream.com

Bus travel comfy, cheap

Exploring Europe on a budget? Take full advantage of the incredibly extensive bus network.  Forget about the old bus that rattled its way to school, onboard wi-fi and seat power plugs are fairly standard these days

OUIBUS.com, an on-line arm of the French railway system, offers a wide choice of bus trips at low fares. Last minute deals when I last checked included Paris/London or Paris/Amsterdam from 19€. For details and bookings head to oubis.com

Value hotels in Singapore

Hotel accommodation in Singapore can be surprisingly expensive. If you are not looking for five star luxury I recommend the Far East Hospitality Group. Right now, enjoy up to 50% off rates plus unlimited Wi-Fi access, free local mobile phone with local data plus early check-in and late check-out (hotel club room bookings).

My wife and I really enjoyed a recent stay at the Village Hotel Albert Court – close to Little India. The deal is valid until September 30 for stays untilDecember 31. See www.stayfareast.com

Business class for two

Malaysia Airlines has become very competitive over the last year or so. The latest offer is a business class companion deal.

You have until July 31, 2018 to book and take note there is limited availability on certain flights. Just to give you some idea, a flight from Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur return would cost $2835pp. MAS also has a bidding system for upgrades that operates if the business class section is light on. With a bit of luck, you might get an even better deal. More information click here

Bonus points plus luxury

Le Club AccorHotels has launched an incentive bonus points offer to welcome Raffles, Fairmont and Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts into its loyalty program across Asia Pacific.

Members will now be eligible to earn 1,000 additional bonus rewards points for stays until 15 August, 2018.  Elite members will enjoy additional pampering. AccorHotels acquired the Raffles, Fairmont and Swissotel network in 2016.

My most recent experience with Raffles was a stay at two properties in Cambodia – both offered outstanding levels of service and comfort.  More information here

Hot deals in Europe

Norwegian is a new name to a lot of Australian travellers despite the fact we are taking about Europe’s third biggest low cost carrier. Norwegian offers more non-stop routes to the US than any other European airline.

I have used Norwegian a couple of times without complaint – the flagship 787 Dreamliner is an excellent aircraft. As an added bonus, this year’s Summer Hot deals have just landed.  Onboard internet is free. Have a look at https://www.norwegian.com/

New Royal Caribbean deals

No one takes a lot of notice of specials from cruise lines anymore – a new version arrives just about daily and there is no real way of checking to see if the savings are real.

The latest from RCL is an “up to 40% off + $US100 to spend at sea clearance sale” offering for instance an inside cabin for a 5 night cruise to Tasmania from $799pp twin share or 14 nights to New Zealand from $1999pp twin share. Have a look here

Emirates to Dubai, $999

Emirates has released mid-year sale fares to 150 destinations and you have until 30 July 2018 to book for select travel periods.

Economy fares start from $999 to Dubai (very cheap) $1,149 to the Indian Subcontinent, $1,179 to Europe, $1,199 to the UK and $1,489 to North America…however it is always a challenge to find these deals – the airlines love to quote for instance from Perth. Business to Europe starts at $6,289. More information at www.emirates.com/au/english/

There are traps, particularly for first time travellers, when booking online. If in doubt, deal with an AFTA accredited travel agent.

We recommend booking.com for accommodation (be flexible and grab a deal you can cancel for free) webjet.com.au. and edreams.com.au. to check prices and book flights. Travel insurance is a must. Check with your insurer or get a quote from industry leader Covermore.com. Read the conditions carefully and remember if you have a pre existing illness, it must be disclosed.
